Contracts, survey reports, and other documents are important and often required for communicating with the client. Documentation promotes, explains, clarifies, and serves as a written record of the various aspects of the surveyor’s services. Proper and complete documentation often helps to reduce the surveyor’s liability. This seminar will discuss the format, content, and purpose for several forms of survey documentation.

The practice of surveying often requires defending an opinion during boundary litigation. Operating a business, the surveyor may also have liability exposure and must be prepared to defend their work or professional conduct in court or before a licensing board. This seminar will focus on the surveyor as an expert witness in boundary litigation and the surveyor’s conduct when faced with potential liability.
