This seminar will acquaint attendees with the history of land ownership and case law that impacts boundary surveying in Florida. Attendees will be educated on the history of land ownership in Florida, descriptions, evidence to be considered in performing boundary surveys and a discussion of relevant case law in Florida.


 David Schryver, PSM, is currently the County Surveyor for Indian River County, Florida. David began his survey career in 1980 and obtained professional registration in 1990. His work experience includes work in the private Sector from Rodman to  Business Owner, and he has been working in the Government Sector since 2011. David is currently the Vice President of the Indian River Chapter and has held many offices at the State level including President of the Florida Surveying and Mapping  Society.



 Richard Powell, PLS, is a Florida Professional Land Surveyor with more than forty years of experience in the private and public sectors.  He has a B.A. in Business Administration from Saint Leo University and is the City Surveyor for the City of Lakeland. He  is responsible for the review of consultant surveys and subdivision plats and expanding the City’s horizontal and vertical control networks. He has extensive experience in boundary and topographic surveys and the review of FDOT right of way maps. Mr.  Powell has served as FSMS District Four Director, President-Elect, President and Immediate Past President.
