This course will focus on Florida Laws affecting professional surveyors and mappers. The practice of professional surveying and mapping is subject to many laws and rules. This course will cover Chapter 472 LAND SURVEYING AND MAPPING, Chapter 177 LAND BOUNDARIES, Chapter 161 BEACH AND SHORE PRESERVATION, Chapter 718 CONDOMINIUMS, and Chapter 95 LIMITATIONS OF ACTIONS: ADVERSE POSSESSION. A review of each law will be done with specific emphasis on the practical application of these laws.

Don Elder, PSM, GISP is a professional surveyor and mapper registered in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi, and has over 20 years of surveying experience. He is a certified GIS professional, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Engineering. Mr. Elder is currently employed by Gulf Power as a Survey Specialist, where he performs a wide range of surveying and land information systems services. Mr. Elder currently serves as FSMS District One Director.
