Description & Nature of Work:

APTIM seeks to hire a fulltime experienced senior hydrographer in our Boca Raton, FL office. The position will involve collecting, processing, analyzing and interpreting a variety of hydrographic data including multibeam sonar, single beam sonar, sidescan sonar, and other conventional and land based survey tasks. The employee will use these data to prepare hydrographic, engineering, geological and geohazard maps, technical and scientific reports, presentations for regulatory agencies, facilities siting, foundation-design and a variety of other applications in a team setting. The candidate must be willing to travel and be able to adapt to challenging offshore environments.

Examples of Duties:

  • Act as lead hydrographer for survey projects.
  • Collection and processing of multibeam and other hydrographic survey data.
  • Development of plans, specifications, analyses, evaluations, maps, position papers, procedures and reports.
  • Communication of technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. via oral presentations.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Open for short term travel, maximum 14 days per event, for approximately 10-15% of total time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have strong technical/scientific writing skills.
  • Highly proficient with Multibeam Sonar data collection.
  • Experience with additional geophysical systems (including chirp sub-bottom, multibeam sonar, Sidescan sonar, magnetometer) is required.
  • HYPACK/HYSWEEP software experience required.
  • Experience with ArcGis, AutoCAD, Surfer software are preferred.
  • Works independently with minimal guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in geomatics, geology, geophysics, geological oceanography, or related field of study.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

Certified Hydrographer is preferred.
